The Student Success Assistant (Work-Study/Student Group C) is a remote part-time employment opportunity in the Student Affairs Department. Reporting to the Student Success Program Manager, the role will be responsible for supporting Student Affairs initiatives that support the developmental needs of the University of Arizona Global Campus student population, including CHAMPS peer mentoring, Honor Society enrollment and engagement, UAGC club and community communications and programming, and supporting the peer tutoring program. Student Success Assistants provide support to UAGC students through peer mentoring, peer academic tutoring, student engagement, and through promotion and administration of Honor Societies at UAGC. Also, as part of the UAGC FWS program, students are provided leadership and development opportunities to foster continued growth and development at the university and to further prepare them in their careers, including being provided an Executive Mentor within the UAGC community.
Essential Student Affairs, CHAMPS, Student Engagement, and Peer Tutoring Job Duties: CHAMPS stands for Collaborative and Holistic Academic Mentoring for Peer Success. As a CHAMPS Peer Mentor, this position will be matched with incoming and new undergraduate students (mentees) to create a space for peer-to-peer mentorship that promotes student development and success. This position will support Student Engagement at UAGC by administrating Honor Society drives, as well as providing communication and programming support to our many Clubs & Communities. This position will be expected to engage in UAGC Connect (PeopleGrove) as part of both CHAMPS and Student Engagement. The mission of the Peer Tutoring Program (PTP) is to provide timely, positive, and supportive help to students so they may achieve their academic goals and overcome academic obstacles. We seek to build a community of students supporting students by offering course- and assignment-specific tutoring by a cohort of accomplished student tutors who can relate to the experiences of online students.
Student Employment Eligibility: Students must be awarded Federal College Work-study to employ any Student Employment positions. UAGC (University of Arizona Global Campus) will determine your eligibility on your behalf once you have applied. Federal Work-study (FWS) provides part-time jobs for students attending the University of Arizona Global Campus with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to service leadership.
