The Director Legal, Dispute Resolution & Governmental Investigations will be key member of the global dispute resolution & governmental investigations team (being a part of the BioNTech legal department) based in the US, will focus on governmental inquiries and investigations and contentious matters vis-à-vis authorities and other governmental entities, and will generally be expected to support BioNTech colleagues across the company worldwide. This attorney will provide strategic counsel and hands-on guidance for aforesaid governmental matters in a fast-paced, execution-oriented environment (including management of internal stakeholders, outside counsel and drafting / reviewing various types of internal communication and external correspondence as well as filings). Your main responsibilities will include:

Direct and manage (as primary point of contact) a diverse range of governmental inquiries (and similar information requests) and investigations as well as contentious matters vis-à-vis authorities and other governmental entities including active litigation, discovery / document production and other legal actions and procedures.

Provide strategic advice, perform required risk assessments and bring together and analyze relevant facts / documents, handling of subpoenas and other legal actions.

Collaborate and coordinate with internal functions and stakeholders to conduct fact finding, interviews and evidence reviews.

Coordinate and lead the collection, review, and production of relevant documents and data.

Manage outside counsel on litigation / arbitration and related matters to efficiently manage all aspects of outside counsel relationships, including staffing, strategy and work product.

Assist in the management of public disclosures and publications, including SEC filings.

Continuously support to implement or improve respective standards and processes as well as develop and conduct training.
What you have to offer:

Bachelors degree, Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, active membership and in good standing in a state bar.

Minimum 10 years prior experience in the field of governmental inquiries and investigations and governmental litigation (matching the responsibilities stated above) acquired in a law firm or inhouse counsel role (highly regulated industry, ideally life science or pharmaceutical experience).

Practical, clear, creative, and solution oriented. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Organized, responsible and detail oriented – excellent negotiation and project management skills. Capable of working independently and able to understand and incorporate legal guidance into work product.

Experience in document disclosures (including e-discovery exercises).
