Department Overview

The Specialty Cameras Engineering team is responsible for developing cameras for special applications, such as environments with explosive or highly corrosive atmospheres or long range surveillance for border projection. The products are aimed at public and commercial safety. The team is responsible for the development of the complete products, including hardware, firmware and mechanics and takes care of the whole development life-cycle that includes development, testing and maintenance of the systems we build.
We work in two teams, one in Schio, Italy, and one in Ware, United Kingdom.


Job Description

Designs and analyzes products for cosmetic and functional housing, internal components, and development, including evaluation of existing standard parts. Verifies designs using CAE, manual methods, and functional test. Designs and performs experiments for verification of analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Use of 3-D modeling software (CREO) to design parts, assemblies and mechanisms using a variety of materials and fabrication technologies

  • Estimation of work and cost required to complete proposed tasks. Creating and maintaining progress reports

  • Creation of detailed production-quality fabrication drawings, design documentation, and assembly drawings for new and existing parts

  • Specification and development of designs, prototypes, and test fixtures

  • Mechanical Testing and verification of parts/products and report creation

  • Design resource during the ECR (Engineering Change Request) process 

  • Support related activities such as maintaining Engineering workshop, tools, jigs and fixtures etc.


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor / Master degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Knowledge of material properties, manufacturing techniques, adhesives, coatings and fasteners

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise documentation

  • Self-motivated with the ability to learn quickly and independently and work within a team

  • A demonstrated pragmatic approach to problem solving

  • 3-D modelling experience – preferably with Creo

  • Ability to design for manufacture

  • Ability to implement designs that are ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing

  • Ability to justify design decisions with calculations, analysis and written documentation

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
