Director, Golf Events Korea

Who We Are:

The Role and What You’ll Do:

• Accountable for successful execution of assigned events in Korea and leadership of the Operations team responsible for delivery.
• Develop meaningful relationships with Tours and federations.
• Full budget management accountability, cost efficiency accountability and contract negotiation / management responsibilities
• Lead, oversee and manage the operational delivery requirements for assigned events.
• Supporting personnel development, implementing best practices and continuous improvement processes, implementing cost saving measures /reviews.
• Mentor and develop staff to pursue new tasks and challenges related to overall department goals, business performance and objectives.
• Drive IMG corporate initiatives and IMG Golf Event business development interests in the region. Role model IMG values for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate across all IMG business units to effectively drive growth and reputation for excellence across the company.

You Have These:

• 8-10+ year’s relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Health and Safety qualification (IOSH) desirable
• Fluency in Korean and English
• Established experience in managing large scale, high profile sports events, with a background and interest in golf alongside extensive knowledge of golf industry and trends. 
• Use of broad industry experience to lead event(s) forward operationally and commercially in line with strategic aims.
• Established contacts within golf with strong relationships with Federations, venues and government organisations.
• Extensive experience in both project and budget management.
• Highly experienced in managing a large events team, complex stakeholders, sponsors and  onsite contractors.

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Superb organisation, planning, execution and monitoring skills to deliver a successful event. Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to build and manage relationships with appropriate internal and external parties to deliver positive outcomes along with strong conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to represent the organisation at senior level internally and externally. Communicate with external stakeholders including sponsors, federations, government organisations, host venues, players (and their teams), contractors and internal Operations teams.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work calmly under pressure whilst meeting deadlines.
• Very strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness to work with and manage a variety of different personality types in sometimes stressful and/or uncomfortable situations.  Able to communicate with people at different levels and across different cultures effectively and diplomatically.
• Working knowledge of MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
