Job Description

The Application Consultant is a customer-facing role specialized by application or industry and engages with customers to identify and expand specific scopes of work that will be proposed to that customer by Proposal Specialists and delivered through capability delivery teams. Keeping a mindset that they should expand the scope beyond their immediate area of specialty to include all capabilities of Rockwell Automation.

You will engage at multiple levels of the customer including engineering, operations, and procurement up to a plant manager or executive level to influence them to value Rockwell Automation as a delivery partner. As an example, building influence through affiliation with trade organizations associated with their specialization or industry.

You will report to APP CON MANAGER, SEA LCS.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Manage customer relationships, engaging them in value-added activities.

  • Lead scope definition, articulate differentiators and values versus competition for designated product, service or solution

  • Knowledge of the industry strategies, familiarity with outcome-based selling.

  • Work with Sales, Consultants and Specialists to assess and respond to PAS, IT/OT, engineering, consulting, project and support services opportunities

  • Understand the customers need and be able to position and quote a desired outcome for a solution

  • Management of the process from Bid Request, Information gathering, Scope definition, Solution design and costing, and Approvals – Collaborate with Sales, Solution Consultants, Sales Specialists, Engineering, Services, and your peer proposal teams regional/global.

  • Demonstrate the ability to expand the scope of solutions requested by incorporating the full portfolio of Rockwell Automation offerings, including: Connected Services, Process/Power & Control/Information Solutions, Packaged Power, and local Field Labor.

  • Make full use of Global estimating tools and Global Engineering Center Proposal resources

  • Advise Consultants and Sales on proposal generation, validation, and presentations for executive level customers

  • Understand business models, organization, and go-to-market strategy, leverage

  • Knowledge of industry strategies, familiarity with outcome-based selling.

  • Requires above Experience maintaining an organized and up-to-date pipeline of opportunities, concern for the exact correctness of work, and commitment to tasks completed

  • Track sales activities through Hubspot and Salesforce.

  • 25% - 50% travel to customers within assigned geography required.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering/technical related field or equivalent.

  • 5+ years pre-sales, direct sales or consulting experience as an estimator, proposal engineer or other contract, project or application engineering-focused position

  • Demonstrated understanding of larger Rockwell Automation application value including knowledge in Automation products including PLC, Standard Drives, Software, Networks and knowledge of third-party products

  • Good application and industry knowledge in BMS for Data Centre , FMCS for Semiconductor industries

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Worked with both internal and external customers

  • Solution and application expertise, and related demonstrated sales experience.

  • Fluency with native language and command of English (written and spoken).

  • Work with and gain confidence of senior level personnel (internal and external) in a collaborative, matrixed partner organization.

  • Understand the importance of demonstrating concern for satisfying customers.

  • Passionate about developing goals to improve our customer experience.

  • Communication style and messaging to different audiences.
