Mixlab, the fast-growing veterinary compounding pharmacy, is hiring a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. We are looking for a hands-on, detail-obsessed team member who is driven to #makeithappen no matter what.
As Senior Staff Accountant, you will play an integral role in building scalable financial operations and ensuring our accounting processes are audit-ready and rock solid. You will report directly to the VP of Finance and work closely with two other team members and our external accounting firm.
Responsibilities:
Own key aspects of the period close process, including journal entries, general ledger mapping, cost accounting, accruals, and reconciliations
Maintain supporting schedules for various accounts (e.g., prepaids, fixed assets)
Drive process improvements and automation within our accounting workflows
Support audit-readiness by ensuring financials and documentation are complete, consistent, and accurate
Prepare internal and external financial reports and variance analysis
Assist in sales tax filings and other compliance requirements
Provide recurring and ad-hoc analyses to Sales, Operations and Customer Care departments to support informed decision-making
About You:
3-6 years of accounting experience, ideally in a high-growth or startup environment
Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting
Proven ability to lead month-end close processes and independently reconcile complex accounts with accuracy
Expert in Excel/Google Sheets and QuickBooks
Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Excited to build, document, and improve systems with automation
Clear communicator who is not afraid to ask questions
Stays on task while under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
Experience working with audit teams
