Location:  US Remote

Guiding high school students through their study abroad journey requires strategic communication at every touchpoint – from sparking initial interest, to pre-departure and beyond, our communications are essential to nurturing and empowering them along their journey.

The Communications Manager is a newly created role designed to optimize CIEE’s mass communications with our students and key stakeholders at every step of the process, to maximize conversions and ultimately impact more lives!

The Communications Manager will develop and manage the High School Outbound (HSOB) Communications Calendar to map out all mass communication priorities across audiences and program types. The Communications Manager will work with the HSOB Marketing and Sales teams to develop new or edit existing email nurture tracks, drip campaigns, and newsletter content. They will be responsible for tracking performance, sharing insights with the team, and providing recommendations on what to adjust to improve conversions and time in the pipe.

We’re seeking candidates with proven copywriting, project management, and analytical skills. Success in this position means delivering clear, compelling communications that guide students through their journey by maximizing engagement and driving conversions. Experience in a sales or customer service role is a plus.

This role will report directly to the HSOB Marketing Manager and will collaborate internally with other HOSB Marketing Coordinators as well as the Sales, IT, and CIEE Digital Marketing teams to plan the execution of the HSOB Communications plan and track performance over time.


What you’ll do:

  • Plan out HSOB mass communications.
    • Work with HSOB teams to understand and prioritize mass communications needs (email and text).
    • Develop and maintain the master HSOB Communications Calendar to orchestrate mass communications centrally – from the lead nurture, to application, and pre-departure tracks.
  • Develop and optimize new email and SMS content.
    • Author or edit the original copy for email and SMS as needed.
    • Coordinate with IT and Digital Marketing teams to build, test, and maintain new email content (nurtures, drip campaigns, and eblasts)
  • Drive reporting cadence and process to optimize mass communications.
    • Work with the IT and Marketing Automation teams to identify key metrics to monitor the performance of our automated and mass communications.
    • Develop a new mass communications reporting dashboard to report on progress against goals.
    • Develop a new internal and recurring process to assess the performance of our mass communications to optimize them, as needed.
  • Send out occasional mass communications.
    • Support the sales and operations teams with emergency communication needs as needed (text, email)
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring:


  • Knowledge Requirements: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, business management, or related field.
    • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in marketing or sales.
  • Skill Requirements.
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills, attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical skills, able to draw insights from complex datasets.
    • Ability to translate data insights into actionable and measurable action items.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Salesforce.
    • Experience with a marketing automation platform like Marketo, or mass emailing tools like MailChimp or SendGrid.
    • Comfortable with web-based project management tools and collaboration technologies like Asana.
    • Creative problem solving with a “can-do mentality”.
    • Flexible, can embrace change in a rapidly evolving work and market environment.
    • Ability to relate to and work with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Optional/Plus:
    • Experience in sales or customer service is a plus.
    • International/Global ed experience is a plus
