Job description

Ember is an independent global non-profit clean energy think tank. We gather, curate, and analyse data on the clean energy transition, and use data and policy insights to accelerate progress on cleaning up the power sector and reducing coal mine methane emissions.

Methane leaking from coal mines has been ignored for many years, but tackling it is one of the most critical short term challenges to reduce global heating this decade. Which also makes it a short term opportunity. We are the only global organisation with a specific focus on methane from coal-mining, which is a bigger source than the gas industry and almost as big as oil.

Ember has already made a major impact in drawing attention to the coal mine methane crisis in Australia, Asia and Europe. Now we are looking for two skilled and passionate analysts to take our impact in Australia to the next level, as well as contributing to the work of our global team, comprising analysts based in Indonesia, India and Europe.

We are seeking two talented professionals to join our team as coal mine methane analysts at Ember. Working with data and policy, you will play a central role in our mission to galvanise action on this neglected source of greenhouse gas emissions.

In these roles, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth policy and data analysis of opportunities to improve the way methane pollution is measured, reported and abated across Australia and internationally.
