NATECH is recruiting for a Technical Writer to support the FAA National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) program. This is an exciting opportunity for talented individuals to contribute to the transformation of the Nation’s aviation system in which air traffic will move safely, swiftly, efficiently, and seamlessly around the globe.


 The Technical Writer is responsible for editing, proofreading, and providing writing support on non-technical and/or technical documents or sections of documents prepared by writers such as manuals, procedures and specifications. Duties may include ensuring documents to meet editorial and government specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, 

format and style. Ability to work independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables. Develop solutions to problems and issues that are unclear and require thorough analyses and understanding of domain knowledge. Communicate with internal and client project team members. Work to influence team members regarding solution design, process and/or approaches. 


  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proofreading documents to ensure the accuracy of format, structure, proper semantic/syntactic use, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Editing documents, to include checking and correcting the content to ensure consistency and coherence; style; grammar; parallel structure.
  • Ensuring:
  1.   All documents are clear and comprehensible.
  2.   There is a logical development of subject matter.
  3.   The level of concept, expression, and vocabulary is appropriate for the target audience.
  4.    Conclusions drawn are valid and supported by reference to facts.
  5.    Conclusions are consistent and compatible with other documents and conform to established division, agency, and   departmental procedures as well as the Administrative Procedures Act.
  • Partnering with subject matter experts, other technical writers/editors, team lead, attorneys, and/or management officials to ensure document meets consistency and accuracy standards outlined above.
  • Produce edited documents for review.
  • Revise documents to incorporate any requested changes. 
  • Write in a clear and concise language, in support of such technical documents as procedure manuals, service manuals, and related technical publications concerned with installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment. 
  • Write technical documentation, such as, operational specifications, bulletins, articles, and marketing publications. 
  • Acquires or verifies knowledge of subject by interviewing stakeholders engaged in developing new products and services or in making improvements, observing performance of experiments or methods of production, references and uses blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings and notes, trade and engineering journals, rewrites of articles, bulletins, manuals, or similar publications.

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain a FAA public trust
  • Bachelor degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience
  • Ability to proofread, edit, and revise documents, write in a clear and concise language, and acquire or verify knowledge of stakeholders by engaging in preparing technical documentation.
