JOB SUMMARY (added Nov 2023)

The Director, Talent Development is responsible for providing strategic and operational HR leadership, direction, and expertise while overseeing the Talent Development team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Management
• Lead, direct and coach members of the Talent Development team in their day-to-day functions
• Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports
• Oversee the Talent Development team

Company
• Build effective and positive working relationships with all leaders within the company to create a learning culture throughout the organization
• In partnership with divisional leadership, create and execute an effective associate engagement plan
• Assist senior leadership in development of plans for implementing work force organizational effectiveness
• Collaborate with department and key stakeholders to ensure consistent alignment with needs analysis, measurement, and delivery of learning experiences
• Work effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff
• Help associates and managers make the most of learning opportunities
• Help managers develop their team members through career pathing

Talent Development
• Create, implement, and execute a company-wide learning and development strategy
• Provide leadership and manager development programming, education and leadership coaching on professional growth and organizational strategy to ensure all leaders and potential leaders have the necessary skills to succeed.
• Serve as an admin and point of contact for our LMS and other L&D solutions
• Maintain knowledge of latest trends in learning and development
• Assess the success of development plans through surveys, feedback, evaluations, and associate performance 
• Adept at associate communications; can build a community of leaders and learners

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE & REQUIREMENT

  • Strong facilitation & presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and learning principals
  • Ability to design, implement, and evaluate training plans, curriculum, and methodology
  • Ability to comfortably interact with all levels of associates, including frontline team members through executive leadership
  • Excellent time management skills (prioritizing and follow-up)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining momentum, and managing project due dates
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; sharp business acumen
  • Ability to lead a diverse team in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  •  Travel Requirements: Domestic and/or International, up to 10%

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

  • Minimum years of work experience: 8 years
    • At least six years’ experience in the delivery of learning and development programs
    • Professional certification (e.g. CPLP, CPTM) is a plus
    • At least four years of management experience
  • Minimum level of education or education/experience: Bachelors Degree
    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
    • Master’s degree in relevant field is a plus
