This is a hybrid position that will be responsible for various CHFA accounting functions related to, but not limited to, bank account reconciliations, reviewing and recording general ledger transactions, assisting in month-end, quarter-end and annual closing activities, analyzing financial statement information, working with forecasting and product/program profitability as well as providing assistance to other staff and acting as back-up when needed. This position reports to the Lead Accountant.
essential functions
Perform various accounting functions that include:
Identify, record and reconcile cash accounts, including CHFA’s main general operating account
Identify, record and reconcile bond and swap activity (notional balances, interest, premium/discount)
Identify, record and reconcile administered program cash and disbursement activity
Assist with the collection and review of information related to product and program profitability
Maintain and review financial budgets and projections, compare to actual results and explain variances
Assist in the bi-weekly processing of incoming check deposits, including periodically taking deposits to the bank
Analyze and research accounting issues, variances and discrepancies
Participate in month-end, quarter-end and annual closing activities; including preparing journal entries and reconciling monthly activity
Participate in the preparation of the annual audit; including tracking cash flow activity and updating footnote information as well as responding to auditor questions
Assume primary back-up responsibilities for other staff when requested
Perform special projects as requested by management

knowledge, skills, and ability
Must possess:
An understanding of accounting concepts
Moderate to advanced Excel skills
Knowledge of Sage Intacct GL system is a plus
Strong attention to detail, good time management and organization skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work well with other departments, co-workers and supervisors
Ability to work in the Denver office a minimum of once a week
Customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

experience/education
Minimum of three years’ experience in accounting or finance
Undergraduate degree in Accounting or relevant work experience
Experience in a financial institution or government a plus
Experience with mortgage/loan accounting a plus

Telephone, personal computer, calculator, photocopier, fax machine, MS Office Suite, and ERP integrated system.

The incumbent in this position will primarily perform the essential functions of the job in a hybrid office environment, which requires sitting at a desk for most of the day, with or without accommodations. This position requires medium levels of interaction and collaboration with others.
hiring range
$70,000 - $82,000 plus annual bonus
