Part-Time Art Director (PT to start)

Column Five is looking to work with a Part-Time Art Director who knows how to effectively conceptualize, iterate, and execute high quality marketing design, branding and illustration work. Column Five is a B2B-focused creative agency that helps brands find and tell their best stories to drive real results. 

As an Art Director you're responsible for overseeing the execution of high quality creative for a variety of clients and engagements. You work closely with Designers, Account Directors, Copywriters, Producers and Strategists to plan, ideate and execute creative that gets results and levels up our work. Art Directors need to be highly conceptual, resourceful, and have the ability to lead small creative teams to do their best work. Organization and ability to manage a workflow with multiple concurrent projects are crucial. Art Directors are essential to the success and quality of design work at Column Five.

This Art Director position reports to the VP of Delivery with guidance and mentorship from other Art Directors and Associate Creative Director. This opportunity is fully remote, 20+ billable hours a week for 3-4 months with the plan to grow hours as needed. There is a possibility, but no guarantee to convert into a full time position at Column Five.

ART DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Synthesize complex, abstract, and disorganized information into compelling creative concepts or narratives
• Facilitate thoughtful critiques and feedback conversations internally and with clients
• Collaborate with others to plan and produce work of varying scale, type and challenge
• Excellent communication skills; confidence presenting ideas to colleagues and clients.
• Think critically about role, processes and opportunities for improvement
• Champion good design practices for file prep, design handoff and quality assurance
• Make decisions that consider budget and align with project objectives
• Give and receive timely, relevant, and thoughtful peer feedback
• Explore alternative or unexpected solutions 
• Manage multiple timelines, deadlines, and your own personal bandwidth concurrently 
• Learn new technologies and techniques necessary for ongoing growth in the role

REQUIREMENTS FOR ART DIRECTOR

• Highly skilled in fundamental design principles
• Proficient in Figma and Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop
• Education in graphic design (or a related field)
• Solid communication skills with team members
• Consistent in delivering thoughtful and timely feedback
• Humility to listen, grow, and learn
• Extreme attention to detail 
• Eye for high quality creative and how to achieve it  
• Initiative and self-starter attitude
• Flexibility and willingness to work under deadline

COMPENSATION
Compensation is dependent upon experience. The hourly pay range for this W-2 position is $70-80/hour. As a part time position, there are no medical benefits.

LOCATION
We are a distributed- or remote-first company. This means that we are open to working with you if you live anywhere within the USA.
