We are looking for a Member of Technical Staff – an experienced developer, preferably with a background in public and private cloud environments – to join our the Platform zone in Bangalore
 

The Team: Patient Directory enables teams to efficiently and effectively build use cases that involve identifying real-world patient data scattered across athena’s network and external systems. This team works on matching algorithms, improvements to existing logic, API development, and core frameworks and tooling used by other developers across athenahealth. You will contribute to building a platform that helps healthcare move faster and serve patients, providers, and hospitals. The platform involves processing billions of records with high throughput and low latency.
 

Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • 3–5 years of experience in a software engineering role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong programming skills in Java with solid knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, relational and NoSQL databases, and RESTful APIs
  • Experience working in an Agile environment preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux, SQL, and version control tools
  • Exposure to distributed computing technologies and messaging frameworks like Kafka is a plus
  • Experience with deploying and maintaining services in AWS or other public cloud platforms is an added advantage
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills


Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Produce clear and accurate technical design specifications
  • Deliver high-quality software components and services with attention to performance, security, and maintainability
  • Estimate development efforts (story points) with accuracy and actively participate in estimation discussions
  • Write, debug, test, and deploy production-ready code
  • Follow best coding practices and established coding standards
  • Ensure Definition of Done (DoD) is met, including unit tests, functional tests, documentation, and regression checks
  • Participate in peer code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards
     

Team Contributions:

  • Develop domain expertise in the assigned area
  • Take ownership of components post-release and measure success by customer adoption
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies – stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure successful delivery of backlog items
     

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate effectively with Product and Technology teams to align on business goals
  • Build strong working relationships across cross-functional teams
  • Share technical and business learnings within the broader organization, tailoring your communication for different audiences
