Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and reliable Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial transactions of our business. The ideal candidate has solid experience in bookkeeping, a strong grasp of accounting principles, and the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. This role is critical to ensuring the financial integrity and smooth operation of our accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, billing, and collections.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements regularly.
  • Process payroll and maintain payroll records (as applicable).
  • Prepare and file sales tax, business tax, or other local/state filings.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate journal entries.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports for management.
  • Organize and maintain digital and physical financial records.
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal teams regarding billing or payment issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized business.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with payroll processing and sales tax filings.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific bookkeeping needs (e.g., retail, construction, nonprofit).
  • Experience with inventory or job costing systems (if relevant to the business).
