Job Role: Senior Accountant

Full time - Independent Contractor | 40 hours per week

Salary range: 2000 - 3500 AUD per month

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant who will play a crucial role in delivering compliant, timely, and accurate financial services. The role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with the Head of Accounting to manage a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring high-quality financial, tax, and accounting work is completed.


Key Responsibilities & Duties:
General Accounting Duties – Complete and Oversee:

  • Manage and expand our client base through excellent, professional service, delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Build long-term, proactive relationships with clients.
  • Prepare financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, and partnerships.
  • Handle calculations, preparation, and lodgement of BAS, IAS, and FBT returns for companies.
  • Advise clients on technical matters and offer the full suite of services that HeadStart Tax & Accounting Services provides.
  • Prepare tax returns for individuals, including those with rental properties, capital gains, PSI, and sole traders.
  • Prepare and submit Super Guarantee Charge Statements and TPAR reports.
  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly financial reports.
  • Continuously improve and update internal procedures and ensure they are followed.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date client files and internal communications.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role within an accounting firm.
  • Experience with key accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple clients.
  • Working knowledge of tax agent portals, including the ATO Tax Agent Portal.

Desirable Technical Experience:

Candidates with experience in the following areas will be highly regarded:

  • FBT (Fringe Benefits Tax)
  • CGT (Capital Gains Tax)
  • Division 7A compliance
  • PSI (Personal Services Income)
  • Tax planning
