Title: UX Research Operations Specialist
Location: Austin, TX - 100% Remote
Key Roles and Responsibilities At a Staff level, the role includes being able to execute research operations tasks with guidance to support the UX Research team’s program and strategy.
The role involves collaborating with researchers to support their research goals; and, organizing the planning and execution of UX research projects.
The core objectives are to recruit high quality and reliable research participants; create thoughtful, targeted and effective communication; and, develop the operational infrastructure to support a growing research team.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting researchers in sourcing, screening and scheduling participants for research studies to test new features and products, ensuring exceptional sampling and participant quality Advising researchers in crafting research studies, taking care to understand research goals, constraints, and considerations to find the best possible research participants
Creating thoughtful, targeted, effective written communication for high volume and high visibility survey sends, and recruiting efforts.
Ensure that all sourcing and messaging is done in compliance with DIRECTV policies, and with close coordination and buy-in from appropriate partner teams
Experimenting with new research tools/platforms, processes, and techniques to improve the work produced by you and your peers.
Continuously propose new ideas and tools for improving workflow & efficiency Assisting the UX Research Director with the pipeline of inbound research requests from various teams across the organization.
Prioritize new and ongoing projects, and quickly react to real-time changes
Coordinating logistics for participant research studies including scheduling, technology support, incentive distribution, and coordination with product and partner teams
Documenting and sharing lessons learned - developing and maintaining team resources, including team research repository, best practices, playbooks, and commonly used resources
Tracking the effectiveness of screener/surveys and collecting metrics about opens, responses and show rate successes and failures to ensure recruiting tactics improve continually
Tracking and organizing team reports, providing feedback on research documents, and being able to look at research findings holistically
Minimum Job Qualifications
1-3 years of experience in an Operations or related environment with significant accomplishments, including at least one successful process implementation (plus if UX Research Ops experience).
Passion for planning, tracking, organizing logistics, and documentation.
Great attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Consistently delivers thoughtful, highquality output.
Excellent communication skills - can quickly establish an easy rapport with a wide variety of people through both speaking and writing.
Strong collaborative abilities - communicates early and often, able to take shifting priorities and timelines in stride, and manages change effectively.
Work experience coordinating multiple fast-moving projects concurrently, working across teams and time zones.
Self-driven initiative and expert time management skills - tackle assignments head on, able to juggle simultaneous requests quickly while paying close attention to the details, and without losing sight of the highest-priority items.
Although not required, you’d be a great fit for this role if you also have: Work experience in a research setting supporting data collection or customer-facing work in the sectors like entertainment, medical, and marketing.
Familiarity with the UX product development process and UX research methods; and enjoys working closely with researchers and designers.
A creative, analytical, and methodical approach to problem solving - able to identify issues other missed, make reasoned decisions with imperfect or ambiguous information, and be proactive in identifying the best path forward.
An interest in technology products and how they are designed, exploring new technology trends, and adopting new tools, software, and equipment.
Familiarity with UX Research software (e.g., Survey Monkey, Userzoom, Usertesting, User Interviews, dscout; and, experience with relevant project management tools, such as Confluence, Sharepoint, Asana, etc is a plus.
Education BA or BS degree in Research, Operations, Medical Research Operations, Design Operations, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Marketing, Project Management, or a related area of study. Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in these or a related area is a plus.
