TRADESPERSON

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the Crew Leader – Treatment Maintenance’s direction, the primary duty is the implementation of the preventive and reactive maintenance program of the water system’s equipment.

EXAMPLES OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

  • Perform maintenance, installation, and repair on electrical and mechanical equipment, components and instrumentation under the supervision of the Crew Leader - Treatment Maintenance.
  • Provide support to co-workers, supervision, and other workgroups.
  • Document and report equipment problems to supervision.
  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures as needed and when new equipment is installed.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and develop a plan of action to correct problems that occur.
  • Understand and follow proper safety and operating procedures.
  • Understand and conform to the policies and directives as established by the Executive Director, City Manager, and City Council.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to detect and diagnose problems in equipment operations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid TX driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a Class “D” Water Treatment Operator’s License issued by TCEQ within twelve (12) months of hire date.

DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience working in water, wastewater, or facility maintenance.
  • Previous experience with the application and function of equipment specific to the water/wastewater industry.
  • Previous experience repairing electrical equipment.
  • Previous experience maintaining or repairing large pumps and motors.

TECHNICIAN

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Perform various chemical and biological testing and analysis as required by multiple agencies and prepare and maintain accurate logs and records related to quality and quantity.

  • Understand and follow proper safety and operating procedures.
  • Understand, conform to, and enforce the policies and directives as established by the Executive Director, City Manager, and City Council.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of machinery and waterworks equipment.
  • Knowledge working with Asset Management software.
  • Ability to detect and diagnose problems in equipment operations.
  • Ability to test and retrieve log information from electrical equipment.
  • Ability to use WORD and EXCEL to develop a database for repairs made, inventory control, and PM work performed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Possess a valid TX driver’s license.
  • Minimum two years experience working in a surface water facility.
  • Class C Surface Water Treatment Operator’s License issued by TCEQ.
  • Class II Wastewater License issued by TCEQ.

DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience maintaining valves, controllers, and piping.
  • Previous experience repairing electrical equipment.
  • Previous experience maintaining or repairing large pumps and motors.
