Job Description:

Global Data Center Management (GDCM) Engineer/Analyst

Global Data Center Management (GDCM) oversees Epiq’s data center operations, acting as the primary liaison between Epiq and co-location providers. The team manages contracts, monitors SLAs, ensures audit readiness, and enforces adherence to documented processes and procedures.

Key Objectives

  • Maximize value from data center-related expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements and maintain documentation to demonstrate compliance.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventories across all data centers, ensuring coverage for hardware and software maintenance.
  • Keep all data center information current within the data center management tool.

Team Structure

The GDCM team includes professionals with technical and operational expertise. Responsibilities are shared and assigned based on skill set, location, and organizational needs. The team engages in both strategic and tactical planning, provides leadership to delivery teams, and reports key performance indicators to leadership.

Role Overview

The GDCM engineer/analyst supports daily operations under the guidance of GDCM leadership, contributing expertise and direction based on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement data center processes and procedures.
  • Maintain high-level data center information, including contracts, SLAs, and terms.
  • Track inventories such as rack elevations, space, power, and cooling availability.
  • Manage a repository of data center artifacts (contracts, invoices, reports).
  • Generate reports and analyze data to optimize utilization and cost-efficiency.
  • Manage provider relationships and maintain clear communication channels.
  • Translate conceptual needs into functional data center requirements.
  • Evaluate and improve existing systems and processes.
  • Assess vendor software for integration and strategic fit.
  • Conduct ROI and cost-benefit analyses for proposed solutions.
  • Train users on tools and processes to build internal capabilities.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to security policies.
  • Collaborate with project managers to align initiatives with business goals.
  • Provide tactical consultation on data center-related processes.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of data center operations, power usage, and environmental management.
  • Strategic thinking and leadership capabilities with excellent relationship management.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Business Intelligence tools to generate actionable metrics.
  • Ability to collaborate across remote teams.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Tactical mindset with a holistic view of systems and processes.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Willingness to be on call 24/7.
