Position Description: 

The Proposal Technical Writer plays a critical role in Arlo's Growth Department by developing compelling, compliant, and winning government proposals. This position requires exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to transform complex technical information into clear, persuasive content that addresses government RFP requirements and highlights Arlo's competitive advantages. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities and/or Success Factors: 

Proposal Development

  • Write, edit, and format proposal content for clarity and persuasiveness 
  • Create technical sections of proposals, including methodologies and project plans 
  • Review and edit proposal content for accuracy and compliance 
  • Ensure all proposal content strictly adheres to RFP requirements and compliance matrices 
  • Incorporate company win themes and discriminators throughout the proposal content 
  • Format and edit resumes for proposed candidates, Content Management 
  • Maintain a library of standard proposal content 
  • Update and maintain proposal databases with new content and lessons learned 
  • Assist in the final compilation and timely submission of proposals for Technical Translation 
  • Research and gather information from subject matter experts and previous proposals 
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand language 
  • Develop and integrate visual aids to enhance proposal readability collaboration 
  • Collaborate with proposal managers and stakeholders to understand proposal requirements and objectives 
  • Participate in debriefings to gather feedback and improve future proposals 
  • Participate in proposal color team reviews (Pink, Red, Gold, etc.) and implement feedback

 

Minimum Qualifications Including Certificates: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, with at least 3 years focused on government proposal development 
  • Demonstrated experience with federal procurement processes and requirements (FAR/DFAR knowledge preferred) 
  • Experience with Shipley or similar proposal development methodologies 
  • Familiarity with government proposal compliance requirements and evaluation criteria 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat 
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work 
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines
