Overview

This position supports the U.S. Army Project Manager Tactical Network (PM TN) Global Field Service Representative (FSR) Support Services program. The program provides FSR support of communications for the Government primarily for operability and sustainment of the Tactical and Strategic antenna system such as the Deployable Ku Earth Terminal (DKET), Mobile DKET, Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR)/Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) Access Point (SNAP), United States Marine Corps (USMC) Support Wide Area Network (SWAN) and Commercialization efforts, Micro Very Small Aperture Terminal (mVSAT), VSAT, Inflatable Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Terminal (ISA) CJNCC NETOPS Multinational Information Sharing (MNIS) Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System (CENTRIXS), Coalition Partner Network-X (CPN-X); and Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF)-OIR AO-wide Network, but are not limited to only these terminals and support.

The SatCom Operation and Maintenance Support personnel performs a wide range of activities to support the day-to-day maintenance and/or operations of assigned DKET terminal or SATCOM systems.

Responsibilities

  • Must be prepared to live and work in the country of Kuwait.
  • Must be willing and able to work up to 70 hours per week.
  • Operate satellite modems, redundancy switch, associated cables, and interconnects; Up Converters, Redundancy Switch; Down Converters, High Power Amplifiers (HPAs), Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), Low Noise Block (LNB); Waveguide (rigid, flex, and elliptical) joints and connections; Intermediate Frequency (IF) cable and connections; Antenna, Antenna motors, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), Antenna Control Unit (ACU), and associated cabling and interconnects; Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Units; Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS); and Generators.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot using Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), such as power meter, spectrum analyzer, firebird, and voltmeter and related TMDE.
  • Manage and maintain telecommunication installation supplies.
  • Maintain daily on-hand inventories.
  • Operate satellite radios and maintain related systems.
  • Operate and maintain Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) modems (iDirect, Linkway, Datum, Comtech, etc.).
  • Operate and maintain TDMA modem hubs, depending on terminal requirement.
  • Operate the Monitor & Control software for the terminal being supported.
  • Have knowledge of all components in the system, both RF and network.
  • Participate in daily and weekly workplace meetings, as required.
  • Abide by all corporate, Government, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Apply performance standards and quality control standards as directed by the Standard Operating Procedures.  
  • Abide by all safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties related to the position.
Qualifications

This position requires:

  • US Citizenship
  • US DOD Secret Clearance
  • A valid current US Passport

Required Certifications:

  • Modem Certification
  • Must maintain active certification throughout employment

Additional Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience in support of installations, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of satellite communications electronic systems or equipment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating in a tactical satellite environment operating/maintaining antenna controllers, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA), Low Noise Block (LNB), Up and Down Converters, Fiber Optic/Coax/Ethernet Cable, Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) modems (Satellite modems) and Modem Hub operations.
  • In lieu of degree, must possess seven (7) years of recent related specialized experience.
  • Must possess experience and skill with commercial and military satellite and commercial TDMA/FDMA modems.
  • Candidate shall have knowledge of tactical and commercial satellite communication equipment.
  • Must possess experience and skills in the operation of satellite modems, redundancy switch, associated cables and interconnects, up converters, down converters, High Power Amplifiers (HPAs), LNA/LNB, Waveguide (rigid, flex, elliptical) joints and connections, Intermediate Frequency (IF) cable and connections, antenna, antenna motors, SSPA, Antenna Control Unit (ACU) and associated cabling and interconnects, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), and Generators.
  • Candidate shall possess technical documentation skills related to SAR, GAR, TSR, and ASI.
  • Must possess knowledge and work experience with the use of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) tools, power meter, spectrum analyzer, firebird, voltmeter, etc.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
