Princeton University Press (PUP) seeks a skilled multi-tasker who is organized and has an interest in books, academia and publishing for a Digital Marketing Assistant (DMA) to join the Marketing and Sales team. Reporting to the Marketing Manager (paid reach), the DMA will collaborate with their manager to implement the advertising plans for approximately 250 books each year. This role will research new print and digital advertising initiatives, negotiate rates, place ad reservations and submit ads, proofread, manage the advertising schedule, create and manage Facebook/Instagram ad campaigns, and provide overall administrative support for the print and digital advertising program. The DMA will also collaborate with the Assistant Marketing Manager (organic reach), specifically posting the “Just In Time” media hits, events, translation editions announcements, conferences, and awards across Bluesky, Facebook and LinkedIn. The DMA will also serve as the Project Manager for Seasonal Launches. The ability to learn on the job and to work with others toward creative solutions is essential to success in this position.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Print & Digital Advertising
- Work with the Marketing Manager (paid reach) to implement the advertising plans for approximately 250 books each year.
- Research new print and digital advertising opportunities and assist in the development of tailored advertising plans for trade and scholarly books.
- Manage the advertising schedule to ensure timely trafficking of over 500 print and online ads to hundreds of journals, magazines, newspapers, and social media platforms.
- Prepare and send insertion orders to reserve ad space. Serve as the main liaison with external ad sales representatives for the reservation and submission of ads.
- Proofread and edit ads at various stages of creation to ensure accuracy.
- Utilize the Sales Force.com system to maintain the advertising database of hundreds of journals, magazines, and newspapers to ensure accurate rates, contacts, size specifications, and other miscellanea.
- Track invoices to ensure timely payment.
- Create Facebook/Instagram ad campaigns, targeting ideal readers and monitoring ROAS, under the Marketing Manager’s supervision.
- Social Media
- Post provided content for Media Hits, author events and awards to Bluesky, Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Collaborate with Exhibits Manager and UK marketing team to post information about conferences on Bluesky, Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Post provided content regarding translation announcements for Rights Department on Bluesky accounts.
- Launch
- Schedule and coordinate all Launch-related deadlines, including Editorial prep timelines.
- Add Launch to PUP staff calendars and update as needed with important information.
- Schedule notetakers for each Launch and provide training as needed.
- Ensure all Launch dashboards and materials have been updated and uploaded in time for Launch.
- Update the Launch document with Publication Date Tracking Meeting notes and author social media handles regularly.
Position Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of 6 months of publishing experience or equivalent experience through an internship or work-study experience required. A marketing focus is preferred.
- Degree from a 4-year college or university preferred but not required.
- Possess the ability to think creatively and to develop strong reader insight.
- Must be a process-oriented person with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Must have excellent written and organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and be detail oriented.
- Must possess good interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- A genuine interest in and intellectual engagement with the publication of scholarly books.
- Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well both independently and with others and to synthesize feedback.

Base Salary: $45,000/year plus extensive benefits package. Starting salary may be negotiable based on relevant skills and prior experience.
