Description

We are looking for a qualified Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team in Melrose Park, IL. This position is responsible for improving the overall safety of the workplace, as well as coordinating and implementing safety procedures related to OSHA. 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with Plant Management to understand production needs and desired safety metrics in order to plan health and safety programs and protocols.
  • Teach and train plant floor employees, leads, and managers on health and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, and state regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments to gather information on safety non-compliances.
  • Work with plant floor team leads and managers to help them ensure that their employees consistently follow safety protocols.
  • Conduct accident investigations, making recommendations to plant management related to corrective action measures to mitigate repeated or further risk.
  • Complete and maintain documentation related to accident and injuries. Maintain OSHA log and 300A.
  • Follow up on any injured worker with modified duty seeking possibly accommodations to reduce lost time.
  • Aid in the implementation of ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety management systems.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced understanding of OSHA and state regulations.
  • Familiarity with the existing safety risks in a manufacturing plant.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
