SRT Advising & Consulting is sole proprietorship providing philanthropic & nonprofit advisory services, facilitation, coaching, planning & communications. Interning with SRT Advising & Consulting will provide candidates the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in advising organizations and leaders in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector. This is a unique experience for students to work within a small firm focused on making an impact. Interns will be working with the founder, a sole proprietor who manages all aspects of business operations, program development, financial management, business development and planning, communications, and outreach. The primary focus of the firm is to provide donor and nonprofit leader support, education, training, facilitation, coaching, guidance and due diligence on relevant issue areas in the nonprofit and philanthropy space, specifically grantmaking and governance.
Responsibilities:
- Answer phones, make copies, file, email correspondence, light typing, some computer use, schedule appointments, sign in customers/clients.
- Develop, update, and categorize organizational templates and materials
- Conduct issue area research/analysis, producing issue or action brief drafts, capturing call notes.
- Develop programmatic materials, including powerpoint presentations and graphics.
- Update website design and content.
- Draft communications materials.
- Read, evaluate, and summarize proposals.
- Prepare site visits and meeting notes/reports.
- Support project management and coordination, including managing work plans and team and client databases.
- Participate in and prepare for strategy sessions by developing agendas, session materials, research, surveys and interviews.
- Adapt/develop scalable tools and templates for clients and community leaders to use to support their programs or initiatives.
- Support the organization of and development of policies, procedures, processes, materials and files for clients.
- Assist with budget and financial planning.
- Utilize tech skills to analyze data, work on virtual programming, etc.
- Identify places of creativity/innovation in our current methods/programs.
- Provide administrative support.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate is a motivated, curious, self-starter with a bias for action, a knack for combining creativity, strategy and implementation into projects, and a desire to learn from social impact leaders, clients and partners.
- Demonstrate an interest in public service, philanthropy and the nonprofit sector
- Possess the ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly, to be flexible, adaptable and take initiative
- Extraordinary communication, research, writing, and organizational skills; exceptional detail-oriented writing, proofreading and verbal communication skills and the ability to translate research into clear, concise and compelling communications
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Demonstrate analytical and research skills
- Ability to collaborate with supervisor
- Proficiency with project management and communications tools, including Google Suite, MS Office, Canva and the like.
- Must have a working laptop/computer and mic. Smartphones will not be acceptable for work
