The Total Rewards M&A Specialist works collaboratively with the benefits, compensation and merger and acquisition (M&A) project teams to thoroughly review and onboard employee groups as part of M&A activity at Huron. This position plays a critical role in both the due diligence and implementation stages for all M&A work. The Total Rewards M&A Specialist is expected to be an internal expert on global compensation and benefit plans to provide subject matter expertise throughout the M&A project. This role requires a high level of customer service, integrity, accuracy, ethical standards, and interest in working in a dynamic and collaborative team environment while also exercising a level of autonomy to meet the job requirements.

Key Job Duties

Benefits

  • Conduct comprehensive benefits due diligence for M&A activity, including identifying risks/gaps, cost implications, compliance considerations, and integration opportunities across all benefit programs.
  • Maintain global M&A benefits playbook to ensure consistent processes and best practices are applied to each transaction.
  • Prepare communications and lead benefit presentations for acquired employees
  • Provide ongoing benefits support during the integration phase, including issue resolution, process alignment, and white-glove assistance for new employees and HR partners
  • Collaborate closely with targets HR team, Workday, external vendors, and internal teams to ensure seamless system integration
  • Develop actionable recommendations to address compensation gaps, support talent retention, and ensure alignment with the company’s compensation philosophy and practices

Compensation

  • Lead the level and job match due diligence process, including evaluating the acquired organization’s job architecture, job competencies, job descriptions and organization structure
  • Conduct a compensation gap analysis, comparing base salary, incentive compensation, equity programs, and total target compensation against internal benchmarks and market data
  • Develop actionable recommendations to address compensation gaps, support talent retention, and ensure alignment with the company’s compensation philosophy and practices
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to manage the compensation budget for each deal, ensuring accurate cost modeling and tracking against the overall M&A budget
  • Perform market assessments of acquired compensation structures and job families, leveraging external benchmarks
  • Prepare, validate, and format employee job and compensation data for seamless integration into Workday HCM, including EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder) loads

  • Knowledge of accounting and finance implications of compensation plans and programs
  • Client service consultative mindset and acumen with experience supporting the development and design of compensation programs in a complex, dynamic, and fast-paced environment

The estimated base salary range for this job is $90,000-$120,000.  The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy.  Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $86,250-$115,000. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
