As a member of the Finance Operations team, our Payroll Analyst are responsible for administering the end-to-end Payroll process, including payroll taxes, and for ensuring activities are performed in a timely manner with an exceptional level of quality.  They are responsible for running and balancing bi-weekly payroll each pay period and ensuring all employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.

What You Bring to Cambia: 

Qualifications:  

The Payroll Analyst would have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Human Resources or related field with 3 years Payroll experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Payroll Analyst Senior would have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting Business, Human Resources or related field with 5 years Payroll experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registration, Etc.

FPC or CPP preferred.

Skills and Attributes: 

  • Working knowledge of state, federal and local tax regulations and laws.

  • Knowledge and understanding of company policies and procedures.

  • Strong computer skills including spreadsheet development, report generation and presentation development.  Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience.  

  • Knowledge and understanding of compliance with Leave of Absence rules and regulations.

  • Has knowledge of various employee benefits to include HSA, 401k, life insurance etc., and how they impact the employee.

  • Prepare materials for external or internal auditors.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and coordinate activities with varying levels of staff, leaders, and external vendors.

  • Ability to exercise judgment, initiative and discretion regarding confidential and sensitive matters.

  • Conducts bi-weekly audits of payroll processing files and data ensuring employees are paid on an accurate and timely basis. 

  • Ensures all month-end processes are followed and completed in a timely and accurate manner, including but not limited to account reconciliations on payroll deductions, taxes withheld and paid, and monthly balancing of payroll dollar interface into the financial system general ledger accounts.

  • Ensures all year end process are reconciled timely and accurately including W-2s.

Additional Minimum Requirements for Payroll Analyst Senior

  • Ability to understand and utilize data to develop insights and actions that support organizational objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, exercising judgement and making effective decisions.

  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative ability to manipulate and analyze data with the ability to identify trends and patterns in data.

  • Solid understanding of deferred compensation processes and calculations.

What You Will Do at Cambia:  

  • Supports the filing of all local, state, and federal payroll taxes and for accurate and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual state (multiple) and federal payroll taxes as needed.

  • Supports completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual interface and balances to ADP Tax Payment Systems and submitting quarter and annual tax files to ADP for Processing.

  • Corrects any discrepancies between payroll system and vendor payroll tax system.

  • Signs off and obtains Management’s signature for payroll tax quarter and annual files remitted by payroll tax vendor.

  • Follows up with payroll tax vendor on tax notices from taxing agencies.

  • Updates tax rates in both the vendor payroll tax system and payroll system.

  • Responsible for follow up with the staff on policies and daily processing issues.  Makes production decisions regarding outstanding issues that need immediate resolution.

  • Reviews department procedures and recommends changes or updates and assists with implementation activities.  Oversees user maintenance of applicable systems, works with various internal departments to resolve system issues.

  • Assists in improving departmental performance by identifying and evaluating work trends, helping develop appropriate actions, identifying training needs and orienting new employees. 

  • Recommends actions when problems or issues related to Payroll processing are identified.

  • Assists in the maintenance and development of desk procedures, policies, and procedures.  May assist in generating user documentation for processes, policies, and procedures in response to business changes and ensures staff are updated on any changes or modifications.

  • Performs timely and accurate calculations for termination payments.  Monitors and audits paycard set up and funding.

  • Responsible for overseeing quarterly and annual updates to department process documentation.  Facilitates partnership in other business areas to ensure their input is included.

  • Oversees and responds to all internal/external questions pertaining to daily processing of payroll.

  • Is proficient in payroll tax compliance and is called upon to resolve Payroll related tax issues and provide guidance to leaders to ensure compliance.

Additional Job Duties for Payroll Analyst Senior:

  • Responds to and resolves employee inquiries related to Leave of Absence requests. Applies leave knowledge and Cambia pay practices to determine appropriate pay for approved leaves.

  • Responsible for responding to all garnishment inquiries, both for employees (garnishee) and garnishors.  Ensures compliance with state, federal and local guidelines and laws and audits garnishment orders. 

  • Responds and resolves employee inquiries to military, bereavement and jury duty pay.  Calculates and audits all related payments.

  • Payroll processing subject matter expert, provides ongoing coaching and mentorship to Payroll employees.

  • Audits to identify and correct out-of-balance conditions.

  • Runs reports in PeopleSoft to ensure correct posting of payroll liabilities and expenses.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment.

  • Travel throughout the region as required.

  • May be required to work outside normal hours.

The expected hiring range for a Payroll Analyst is $57,000 - $73,000/year, depending on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure / certifications; and performance history. The bonus target for this position is 5%.  The current full salary range for this role is $57,000 - $95,000/year.

The expected hiring range for a Payroll Analyst Senior is $71,000 - $89,000/year, depending on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure / certifications; and performance history. The bonus target for this position is 10%.  The current full salary range for this role is $71,000 - $116,000/year.
