OVERVIEW

The Pharmacy Fill Technician accurately prepares prescriptions, including the careful picking, labeling, scanning, and final preparation of prescriptions for the pharmacist's verification. Additionally, they assist in maintaining a well-organized workspace and ensure compliance with regulations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pull/pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas (pre-pack racks)
  • Accuracy check of final preparation prior to presenting to pharmacist
  • Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently and in a timely and prioritized manner, under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle/dispose of per procedure
  • Assist in pre-packing frequently ordered medications; label and stock as needed during low-volume times
  • Package materials and products manually
  • Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA
  • Maintain clean/organized workstation areas and replenish all stock supplies needed each shift
  • Alert the pharmacist on duty of any medication/product that is not scanning properly
  • Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code
  • Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required and/or expected
  • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs

 

 

Qualifications

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations and state of practice
  • Previous pharmacy experience required (one or more years of long-term care experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of brand name/generic medications
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Able to work at a moderate speed
  • Able to work during inclement weather
  • Reliable
  • Good organization/Attention to detail
  • Analytical/Problem solver
  • Able to physically perform light lifting
  • Must be able to work various shifts and days

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that should be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, crawl intermittently
  • It may be necessary to work extended hours as needed
  • May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

HOLIDAY & PTO POLICY

  • Paid holidays are provided annually, with 6 days offered each year, along with 5 sick days.
  • Employees earn up to 10 PTO days each year, with rollover options and milestone bonuses.
  • Employees have the option to cash out up to 10 PTO hours each quarter for added financial flexibility.

Please note, because we are a pharmacy most of our locations are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and therefore schedules may change as determined by the business needs.
