Job Title: Scientific Director

Location: Remote (Must reside in the Northeastern United States)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Scientific Director to join a growing medical communications team. This is a remote role for candidates based in the Northeastern United States. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in medical communications and publications, with a proven ability to lead scientific strategy, mentor junior writers, and contribute to the development of high-quality deliverables across a range of therapeutic areas.

You'll play a key role in shaping content and strategy across accounts, working closely with cross-functional teams including client services, creative, and editorial. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about translating complex science into compelling, accurate communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead scientific strategy and content development for a range of medical communications and publications accounts
  • Serve as the scientific expert in client meetings and presentations
  • Guide and mentor medical writers and editorial staff to ensure content accuracy, consistency, and alignment with strategic objectives
  • Review and approve scientific content, ensuring clarity, scientific integrity, and compliance with industry standards
  • Collaborate with client services and project management teams to develop strategic plans and timelines
  • Contribute to business development efforts by providing scientific insight on pitches, proposals, and capabilities presentations
  • Stay current with relevant literature, therapeutic area trends, and industry guidelines (e.g., GPP, ICMJE, PhRMA)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a medical communications agency environment
  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred) in a scientific or clinical discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in both medical communications and peer-reviewed publications
  • Proven ability to lead teams and contribute to strategic account growth
  • Exceptional writing, reviewing, and communication skills
  • Comfortable working across multiple therapeutic areas and deliverables
  • Must be based in the Northeastern United States
