Job description

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Foundation Research Analyst (Interim) on behalf of our client, a respected philanthropic foundation in Chicago, IL! This is a full-time, interim hybrid opportunity with a passionate, mission-driven team working to develop innovative strategies for equitable change.

The Foundation Research Analyst will report to the Director of Strategy and play a key role in coordinating research initiatives, managing data and analytics projects, and supporting internal learning processes that inform new program strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee timelines, deliverables, and logistics for research and strategy development projects.
  • Track budgets and ensure accurate reporting for research activities.
  • Gather, organize, and maintain research findings and data on emerging issue areas.
  • Manage internal knowledge systems, ensuring insights are accessible across teams.
  • Summarize literature reviews, stakeholder feedback, benchmarking, and field scans.
  • Support qualitative and quantitative data analysis, including coding, dataset prep, and dashboard development.
  • Assist in preparing memos, reports, and slide decks to inform program decisions.
  • Collaborate with evaluation teams to track learning goals and adjust strategies based on results.
  • Manage communication with external researchers, grantees, and field experts.
  • Support planning for internal and external presentations that share key insights.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in public policy, social sciences, nonprofit management, research methods, or a related area.
  • Proven experience in project coordination, research administration, or analytics (ideally in consulting, philanthropy, nonprofits, or public sector).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with research and analytics tools such as Excel, Tableau, NVivo, Qualtrics, or Airtable.
  • Experience supporting research or learning initiatives within foundations, nonprofits, or think tanks.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and deeply committed to equity-centered work.

Compensation:

This hybrid, interim opportunity offers an hourly pay range of $42$46.
