Job description

SummitET is hiring a Director of Radiological Solutions & Regulatory Affairs to lead our expanding portfolio of radiological preparedness, regulatory support, and technical consulting services. This full-time role is responsible for managing and delivering specialized support to state radiation control programs, emergency management agencies, and private sector clients. The Director will oversee projects such as licensing and inspection support, development of radiation protection regulations, radiological emergency planning, and delivery of technical training programs-while also playing a key role in business development and client engagement.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage radiation-related contract activities, ensuring adequate resources and subcontractor support to meet project deliverables.
  • Research and pursue opportunities to expand SummitET's radiation-related services and client base.
  • Provide or oversee delivery of emergency preparedness support, including technical plan reviews, development of protective action recommendations, worker dose thresholds, and technical factsheets.
  • Deliver technical and regulatory support for radiation control programs, including licensing, inspection procedures, and investigations.
  • Provide or coordinate client training in areas such as health physics, radioactive materials, regulatory compliance, and enforcement protocols.
  • Assist with client transitions to online licensing systems and platforms.
  • Monitor and interpret changes in state and federal radiological regulations and provide technical translations and guidance to clients and internal teams.
  • Develop and implement key program components, such as:
  • Technical system setup, organizational thresholds, and integration of operational tools
  • Use of OneResponder or MissionEdge for tracking and coordination
  • Radiological Operations Support Specialist (ROSS) integration and program planning
  • Healthcare Coalition annex development and exercise design
  • Deliver training programs such as:
  • IPX (Improvised Nuclear Device Preparedness) readiness and evaluation
  • CBRN responder operational training
  • Ensure all regulatory affairs activities are compliant and reflect best practices in radiation safety and control.
  • Improve operational efficiency by developing and implementing streamlined processes.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, workshops, and training to both small and large audiences.
  • Create, manage, and maintain documentation and procedural guides.
  • Stay informed of the latest industry trends, compliance requirements, and regulatory updates.
  • Represent SummitET at professional conferences, trade shows, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships across the radiation control and emergency preparedness sectors.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal writing and reviewing scopes of work.
  • Review and approve project invoices for accuracy; work with accounting to manage payments and subcontractor compensation.
  • Monitor for conflicts of interest between vendors and clients to maintain program integrity.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and relevant project management software
  • Deep knowledge of state and federal radiation protection programs and regulations
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in decision-making
  • Proven multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Willingness and ability to travel for client support, conferences, and project work


Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Radiation Health Physics or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, ideally within a state or federal radiation control program
  • Certifications such as Certified Health Physicist (CHP), Radiological Operations Support Specialist (ROSS), or similar are preferred but not required
  • Must have or be able to obtain secret clearance. 


Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer using standard office peripherals
  • Ability to travel by air or automobile for client engagements, conferences, and other professional obligations
