Job Description

Platform for Labour Action (PLA) International, in collaboration with Platform for Labour Action (PLA) Uganda, is launching an initiative to bolster civic engagement and community empowerment through the development of comprehensive training modules. We are seeking motivated and skilled volunteers from universities to play a crucial role in creating a transferable training package that can be adapted and utilized in various contexts. This project will involve a thorough review of existing materials related to civic participation, with a focus on identifying best practices and key principles.

Skills

A significant component of the project will also be a comparative analysis of US grassroots organizing methods and their potential applicability in the Ugandan context. This comparative approach aims to integrate innovative strategies and tailor them to maximize effectiveness. Volunteers will contribute to the development of diverse training materials, including handbooks, video tutorials, and audio recordings. These resources will be designed to equip community members with the knowledge and skills necessary to actively participate in civic processes, advocate for their rights, and contribute to positive social change. This project offers a unique opportunity to bridge theory and practice, applying academic knowledge to real-world challenges. Volunteers will work closely with experienced professionals in the field of civic engagement and gain valuable insights into international development and community empowerment strategies. Volunteer Role:

  • Conducting research on civic participation methodologies and best practices.
  • Analyzing and comparing US grassroots organizing methods.
  • Assisting in the development of training curricula and materials.
  • Contributing to the creation of handbooks, video scripts, and audio recording outlines.
  • Potentially adapting training materials for specific community needs.
