This position is a 0.5 FTE Teaching Position (part-time)

Position Title: Education Coordinator Pay Grade: Per Certified Instructional Schedule Period of Employment: 10 months

Description Approved/ Revised: 04/2025 FLSA Status: Exempt

Supervised by and/or Reports to: Building Administrator, K-12 CTE Supervisor

General Responsibilities: Serve as Program Coordinator to the Certified Nurse Aide program. Essential Duties:

  • Provides administrative responsibility and accountability for the nurse aide education program.
  • Complies with the Virginia Board of Nursing documentation requirements for yearly reviews and site visits.
  • Maintains current M.O.U.'s with local nursing homes and hospitals and creates new ones to meet student clinical hour requirements.
  • Schedules clinical site orientation and rotations with students, sites, transportation, and instructor.
  • Orders equipment and supplies as needed to meet course requirements.
  • Works with local businesses to sponsor student scrubs and complete the ordering process.
  • Supports Primary Instructor with student clinical hour requirements (on-site or in the field).
  • Supports students through the testing process with Credentia for certification exam.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, current, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and School Board Policies and Regulations.
  • Communicates effectively with students and staff affiliated with the course, including those at MCPS and in the community.
  • Establishes cooperative relationships with the students and their families.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requisite Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to deliver instruction using active learning methods that accommodate different learning styles.
  • Ability to plan, select, prepare, and implement appropriate active learning activities to meet all course competencies.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates effective knowledge of and use of curriculum content (subject matter and skills) associate with the instructional assignment.
  • Demonstrates effective knowledge and use of instructional facilities, equipment, and materials.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students as individuals and in groups.
  • Demonstrates professional relationships with peers and specialists.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, electronic learning platforms, and Google Docs.

Requisite Education and Experience

  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing.
  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with a minimum of two (2) years' experience.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with a CTE Health and Medical Science endorsement preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Must have current certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid; certification as an instructor preferred.

Physical Requirements: Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physically capable of effectively using and operating various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions required.
