This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with the hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

Your role

As a Specialist in our team, you will provide support to Senior Specialists of Media Partner and Corporate Manager Local Accounting in the areas of Accounting, Planning, Budgeting, Reporting and Forecasting. This includes conducting detailed and complex analysis and research of financial information and other non-financial data to support those activities. You will guide and liaise with Media Partners and other Finances offices in order to gather information to support the results of their analysis.

Please note that we are looking to fill one temporary position (full-time) for a period of 2 years. The location for this role is in Ottawa.

Tasks:

  • Through ongoing reviews and analysis of accounts and financial data in the general ledger, as well as contracts and agreements and other financial statements, assists and contributes to the assurance that the official books of account of the Corporation are properly maintained. Undertakes special topical research as necessary to compliment, support and complete such statements.
  • Investigates issues that are administrative in nature or specific to Media Partners. Conducts detailed and complex analysis of financial and non-financial data.
  • Monitors adherence to accounting standards, policies, procedures and guidelines, identifies deviations and inconsistent applications and makes recommendations for updates and changes where required.
  • Provides specialized advice, guidance and direction to Finance offices in matters pertaining to above areas of activity.
  • Prepare quarterly General Ledger variance analysis.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related fields.
  • One to three years of experience in related fields.
  • Fluently bilingual in French and English. Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Capacity to interpret and reorganize data and information of a complex nature for presentation to all levels of management, in a clear and concise manner.
  • High attention to detail, independent and proactive.
  • Intermediate to advanced excel skills required.
  • Experience with Google Suite, specifically Google Sheets is an asset.
  • Good teamwork qualities and be capable of working with various levels of management.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines, involving complex analysis (with frequent interruptions).
