Position: Climate Scientist

Contract Type: Work Package, Freelance

Duration: 32 months or more

Work Set-up: Fully Remote

Position Level: Senior-level candidates with a strong background in Regional Climate Modelling (RCM) are preferred; however, applications from junior profiles with relevant expertise are also welcome.

Workload: Part-time participation is possible.

Educational Background: A degree in Geology, Meteorology, Climate Science, or Environmental Science

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience in Regional Climate Modelling (RCM) and Machine Learning / Deep Learning is essential.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

• Familiarity with CMIP5/CMIP6 datasets (models and databases -- publicly available)
• Experience with CORDEX domains 
• Statistical emulation and downscaling techniques
• Proficiency with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs)
• Understanding of uncertainty quantification and bias correction methods
• Knowledge of ESGF publication pipelines
• Experience working with High-Performance Computing (HPC) and GPU clusters
• Skills in scientific data visualization and statistical analysis
• Exposure to cloud computing environments such as AWS, Azure, or OpenStack
