We have an exciting opportunity for a Fluids and Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
If Selected You Will
Support Johnson Space Center's activities in design, modification and review of Propellant Fluid and Mechanical Systems
Work in a team environment to analyze designs, analysis, requirements, verifications, etc from the customer for problem resolutions and to develop design solutions
Oversight in design, development, testing, implementation, and analysis of propellant engine products and systems
Perform engineering designs and evaluations for various fluids and mechanical systems
Prepare and present design recommendations at various engineering design reviews
Apply engineering principles and techniques to create solutions to component and system designs
Review engineering specifications and designs for a wide range of engine schematics on related engine system products
Express good leadership qualities, be highly motivated, well organized, and capable of working within a closely-knit team
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Experience in cryogenic systems and vacuum systems
Familiarization with Liquid Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Helium, and Oxygen Systems
Ability to visualize and work with complex fluid and mechanical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team
Ability to coordinate in a team environment to meet project milestone design reviews and integration
Knowledgeable and experienced in the following: MS Office Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD, Inventor or PTC Creo or other similar CAD Software packages
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision - Ability to communicate, build relationships, be proactive, and work with a team
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Support work extended hours and weekends to meet customer test schedules
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarization with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
Understand MS Project schedules and report the status to the project manager
Experience with NASA's Engineering Drawing System Manual, JPR 8500.4 is a plus
Presentation skills are highly desired
Design of fluid mechanisms interfacing between space vehicles
Ten (10) years' experience
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering school
Has experience with Creo
Has experience with fluid and pressure systems
Has experience with leak testing
Has worked with mechanical technicians on buildup of systems
Has experience with fluid and pressure connections and fittings
Has experience with sending jobs to vendors for procurement
Has experience with flight hardware handling and testing
