Job description

Role: AWS Data Engineer
Position Type: Full-Time Contract (40hrs/week)
Contract Duration: 6 Months (with a possibility of extension)
Work Hours: US Time
Work Schedule: 8 hours/day (Mon-Fri)
Location: 100% Remote (Candidates can work from anywhere in Costa Rica or Brazil)

About the Role:

Client is seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in data engineering, particularly with AWS tools, and will play a critical role in building and enhancing their data lake. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a well-established environment with a great team and culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Architect to build and establish standards and foundations for their data lake.
  • Work in a pattern-based environment to ensure quick value addition.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Experience utilizing AWS tools such as Redshift, Athena, Glue, Lambda, Lake Formation, ECR, and Docker.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline data processes.
  • Handle and expose various data types, including email data, within the data lake.
  • Work with legacy databases, particularly MariaDB, to migrate and integrate data into the new data lake.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ideally 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer, with a focus on working on large-scale data warehouses.
  • Strong experience with AWS tools such as Redshift, Athena, Glue, Lambda, Lake Formation, and ECR, Linux, CI/CD practices or others.
  • Comfortable with Docker and DBT modeling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work effectively in a scrum team, dividing and conquering tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities..
