Job Title: Clerk - Media Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

Primary Purpose
To support a well-organized library media center that will support learning and instruction in a technologically rich environment and to support district and division business and record-keeping practices.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- High School diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Experience working in a library media environment preferred
- Experience working with software applications
- Knowledge of bibliographic format, preferred
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Basic understanding of library systems - RDA, MARC and the Dewey Decimal System.
- Assist with copy cataloguing tasks
- Under the guidance of the professional cataloguer use the Internet to access and import MARC records from bibliographic data base sites.
- Under the guidance of the professional cataloguer maintain accurate MARC records in system
- Master the current library management system modules.
- Follow established procedures for receiving and unpacking campus orders from vendors.
- Follow established business office procedures.
- Perform the appropriate level of processing required for each order so that all materials are shelf-ready when received by the campus or district department.
- Pack, lift, and stack boxes onto flats in loading dock for distribution to campuses.
- Maintain accurate record of all shipments (i.e. number of boxes, number of materials enclosed, the receiving campus, date of pick-up and name of person picking up the shipment)
- Perform complete processing (retrieving MARC records, applying item bar codes, spine labels, attaching item bar codes to network database) on all books.
- Acts as liaison to staff, vendors and accounts payable to technical services
- Participate in inventory process for library materials

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; various audiovisual production equipment; digital cameras; barcode readers.
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; prolonged keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Frequent moderate lifting and carrying (up to 40 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; Frequent driving a vehicle; Occasional climbing of stairs; Frequent long-term computer entry.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; Subject to extreme environmental conditions; Subject to numerous phone calls; Subject to frequent deadlines
