We have an exciting opportunity for an Astromaterials Curation Processor to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
If Selected You Will
Prepare tools, and cut, chip or band saw astromaterials samples.
Transfer and weigh samples and track the movement of samples through Curation databases.
Provide basic petrographic characterization, digital imaging, inventory and cataloging of astromaterials samples.
Assist visiting Principal Investigators (PI's) in Curation laboratories.
Prepare astromaterials samples for a variety of geologic analyses.
Perform other tasks as required.
Qualifications

A BS degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience is typically required.
BS degree in geology, physics, chemistry, or a related field.Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaborate as a member of a team.
Attention to detail for working with pristine samples and for accurate record keeping.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Photoshop, and experience inputting data into databases.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with and/or studying extraterrestrial samples, particularly Apollo or meteorite samples.
Experience handling delicate samples.
Experience working in a cleanroom and/or familiarity with ISO 6-7 cleanroom environments and standards.
