What you’ll be doing

As an associate, Commercial Baking, you will join the Commercial Banking Group to provide support to the teams responsible for financial statements analysis, preparation of financing structures specific to several clients from different sectors, and the clients/clients potential contact. This position serves as a preparatory training; it is an opportunity for the candidate to get acquainted with products, processes, networks and functions and to equip themselves for possible access to the role of relationship manager. You will maintain relationships with internal partners to facilitate the implementation of financial products and solve problems that arise, and draw on your knowledge of products and customers to develop proposals, submit ideas and develop solutions to proactively respond to the financial needs of clients and potential clients. The associate role is primarily to support relationship managers and managers in business expansion and management of existing client relationships. This position will allow you to discover a wide range of sectors of the economy, many financing professionals and meet several entrepreneurs with unique backgrounds, thus expanding your business network in a dynamic and enriching atmosphere.

How you’ll succeed

  • Business development support – Assist Relationship Managers, Commercial Banking in coordinating activities through the financing cycle and liaising with other units of CIBC as necessary. Assist with the execution of business development initiatives and contribute to the achievement of growth targets by identifying business opportunities and developing financing solutions to meet the needs of the client.

  • Research & evaluation – Assist in evaluating business growth opportunities through comprehensive industry, client and prospect research. Prepare analyses in support of credit submissions including structuring and documentation.

  • Client experience - Proactively assess your clients’ needs and propose solutions to meet those needs. Interact with assigned clients to facilitate prompt responses to questions, enquiries or issues in order to provide “best in class” service. Apply acquired industry/company knowledge to the development of client/prospect proposals for financial and strategic solutions to meet client needs.
