Job Summary
The Designer works under the direction of the Divisional Design Manager, and in partnership with the Product Manager, delivers a focused and inspiring assortment each season for the assigned product line.
Key Responsibilities
Translate vision and emerging trends into the assigned product lines based on concept direction;
Maximize sales and gross profits, minimize shuffles and unplanned markdowns (with Product Manager);
Create and coordinate multiple pieces that aim to satisfy our clientele and corresponds to our brand image;
Work with technical designers, patternmakers, and fit technicians to ensure our clothing corresponds to our specifics;
Build a relationship with the Buying team that fosters development of innovative, relevant and fashion-forward designs;
Build a relationship with the Production team that takes into consideration manufacturing limitations, yet pushes our expectations of quality, lead time and price value;
Research and develop new fabrics, washes, trims and finishes that are within our cost constraints and elevate the brand
Adhere to design calendar;
Shop international and domestic market for seasonal research.
Qualifications
DEC or Bachelor Degree in Fashion Design;
Minimum 7 years experience design experience;
Detailed oriented, self-motivated;
Good Microsoft office (Excel, Outlook, Word) skills;
Strong color sense;
Excellent knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop;
Bilingual (English and French);
Sound judgement and a good understanding of trends and the fashion apparel industry.
