Job description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Patent Prosecution Paralegal to join our Intellectual Property team. This role will be responsible for preparing and managing U.S. and international patent filings, supporting attorneys through the entire patent lifecycle, and ensuring compliance with USPTO and foreign filing procedures. The ideal candidate has strong communication and organizational skills, a deep understanding of patent prosecution, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.



Requirements
  • Prepare and file U.S. patent applications (utility, design, and plant) with the USPTO.
  • Draft and file PCT applications and manage all phases of PCT prosecution.
  • Coordinate with foreign associations for international patent filings and prosecution.
  • Prepare and manage formal documents, including assignments, declarations, and powers of attorney.
  • Draft responses to office actions and ensure timely filing.
  • Maintain current knowledge of USPTO rules, procedures, and e-filing systems (e.g., Patent Center).
  • Manage and maintain a patent docket; monitor deadlines and generate docket reports.
  • Provide attorneys with regular deadline reminders and updates.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical patent files.
  • Communicate with clients regarding application status, document requests, and inquiries.
  • Prepare Information Disclosure Statements (IDS) and maintain prior art records.
  • Draft correspondence and legal documents related to patent prosecution.
  • Assist with billing and invoicing for patent-related matters.
  • Support attorneys with administrative and case-related tasks as needed.

Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of patent prosecution experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate IP department.
  • Experience managing U.S., PCT, and international filings.
  • Familiarity with Intellectual Property Management Systems (IPMS), NetDocs, iManage, or similar platforms.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Paralegal certification or a degree in paralegal studies.
  • In-depth knowledge of USPTO and international patent office procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
