Paralegal (part-time) | Acorns
Acorns is seeking an experienced legal professional to join our team as a Paralegal to manage the day-to-day legal response process related to court documents received by the organization, such as subpoenas, garnishments, liens, and other notices. In this role, you will leverage your experience in handling legal documents and processes to ensure that all requests are processed and responded to in a timely and compliant manner, while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and security.
This role has an expected time commitment of 15-20 hours/week and has the option to be remote within the United States.
Work sponsorship is not available for this role, including Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), F-1 Visa program, and other visa sponsorships.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain the Subpoenas Gmail inbox and ensure that all incoming requests are logged and processed appropriately
Create, organize, and maintain records of responsive documents within our Google Drive and ensure proper filing and accessibility
Download and review incoming subpoenas or legal requests, input necessary details into the Subpoenas Log, and create corresponding folders in the Shared Drive for document storage
Collect and prepare responsive documents, including but not limited to customer information, transaction history, logs, Salesforce tickets, and other relevant communications
Apply necessary watermarks and convert documents into PDF format and secure documents using appropriate encryption methods
Utilize pre-existing templates to prepare response letters and certificates of authenticity
Send encrypted documents to the designated law enforcement agencies or legal entities via email, using predefined templates
What you will bring to Acorns:
Bachelor’s degree required.
2+ years of relevant legal experience, including direct experience handling subpoenas and legal document processing.
Experience with subpoena management software (e.g. Kodex or Logikcull) a plus.
Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Proficient in using Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs), Adobe PDF software, and familiar with basic encryption methods
Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
High level of English proficiency, capable of understanding and drafting complex legal documents

Compensation Information:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $30.00 to $40.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is part-time, with an expected time commitment of 15-20 hours per week.
