Position Summary:
Providing senior-level expertise withing the data team, responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of complex and large-scale data engineering projects, providing technical leadership, driving data engineering strategy, and ensuring the successful delivery of data solutions that support data-driven decision-making and business analytics.
Essential Job Functions “What You’ll Do”:
Data Architecture and Design:
• Lead the design and implementation of scalable and efficient data architecture, including data models, databases, data lakes, and data warehouses.
• Define data engineering principles, standards, and best practices.
Data Pipeline Development:
• Design and build robust and reliable data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
• Optimize data pipelines for high performance and scalability.
Data Transformation and Preprocessing:
• Oversee data cleansing, preprocessing, and transformation to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
• Implement data quality checks and anomaly detection mechanisms.
Data Storage and Management:
• Architect and manage data storage solutions to support efficient data access and retrieval.
• Evaluate and implement appropriate data storage technologies and data management systems.
Data Security and Governance:
• Ensure data security measures are in place to protect sensitive information and comply with data privacy regulations.
• Establish and enforce data governance policies for data access and usage.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
• Monitor and analyze data pipelines and database performance, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
• Optimize data processing and storage for maximum efficiency.
Leadership and Mentorship:
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the data engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
• Guide and support other data engineers in their technical growth and career development.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
• Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Automation and Tooling:
• Lead the development and implementation of data engineering automation and tooling to improve productivity and reliability.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging data engineering technologies and tools.
Data Documentation:
• Ensure comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, schemas, and processes.
• Document data lineage and data flow for audit and traceability purposes.
