Director - Private Credit Fund Controller

Our client is a credit-focused hedge fund managing assets across distressed debt, structured credit, and special situations. They are seeking to hire a Director in the Private Credit sector. This Director-level role includes significant team management responsibilities and will work closely with the Senior Credit Fund Controller. This is a hybrid position based in Manhattan, NY!

Job Function

• Oversee the finance team responsible for investor reporting, compliance with fund agreements, management and financial reporting, performance measurement, and financial analysis.
• Review financial statements, partner allocations, capital account statements, and performance reports prepared by junior team members.
• Lead the preparation of board materials and frequently interact with board members and the audit committee.
• Oversee the capital call process, including performing reasonableness checks and analytical reviews.
• Review and ensure the accuracy of waterfall calculations and distributions to investors.
• Work with Corporate Controllers to report and record monthly and quarterly corporate reporting, including FRE reporting.
• Partner with Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Corporate Controllers on ad-hoc projects, fund restructuring, and financing arrangements.

Job Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in fund accounting, ideally within a hedge fund, private credit fund, or Big 4 asset management group.
• CPA strongly preferred; experience with credit instruments, structured products, or distressed assets is a must.
• Deep knowledge of fund structures, performance fee mechanics, and U.S. GAAP.
