The National Urban League seeks a Temporary Associate in the Division of Equitable Justice & Strategic Initiatives (EJSI). The Associate, of Equitable Justice & Strategic Initiatives will work with EJSI leadership and staff to advance the work of the division. The Temporary Associate will support the core operations and responsibilities of the division, including providing support for substantive research, events, productions, and special projects developed and implemented by the division. The Temp Associate will also provide administrative and project support for the division, will work closely with division staff to coordinate internal data collection, and will coordinate meeting reports. The candidate may also be privy to sensitive information which will require an ability to maintain the confidentiality of that information.
- Serves as an assistant project coordinator for special projects managed by the division, including but not limited to the Urban Expungement Program, Reclaim Your Vote campaign, National Urban League’s 21 Pillars Tour and other EJSI events; “Justice NOW” series; development, implementation, and dissemination of a divisional newsletter; and will assist the team in developing talking points and preparation documents, among other projects.
- Manages communications with appropriate stakeholders, consultants, and advisors under the above function, including communicating with vendors and suppliers.
- Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to understand their expectations (logistical & customer service) and provide technical assistance and troubleshooting responsive to stakeholder needs, including internal colleagues, strategic partners, consultants, and affiliate staff.
- Provide research support for Senior Vice President, Vice President, and Director of the division, including monitoring news, policy, and social media, and disseminating pertinent information, news, and updates to appropriate members of the division.
- Provide administrative support for Senior Vice President, Vice President, Senior Advisor and Director of the division, including contracts, payment requests, creating and monitoring surveys, and preparing meeting materials.
- Manage and maintain records, including internal data and reporting systems developed for the division.
- Staff on and offsite meetings, including some work-related travel.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Education plus experience accepted.
EXPERIENCE
- 2-3 years of industry-related experience specifically in a fast-moving environment.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in teams.
- Possess high proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiastic to learn about the work of the division and civil rights and social justice issues.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-moving work environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Travel required 20% or less
- Position is hybrid
