The Role:
You and Your Team:
As a Platform Test Engineer, your purpose is to ensure APIs and other components that make up the platform are being built and maintained, in a complex software and IT environment, to a consistent level of quality in terms of functionality, performance, and security.
Using expertise in various technologies and best practices, this is a pivotal role in verifying the correct operation of our product offerings, optimising performance, and ensuring the reliability and security of our software systems.
Some of the key responsibilities are:
Building and maintaining automated suites to detect regressions in platform behavior or performance.
Conduct rigorous manual testing and troubleshooting of platform to ensure it meets functional, performance and security requirements.
Assist platform engineers in triaging incidents/defects and diagnosing the causes of defects (and performance bottlenecks and security issues).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop technical test plans in response to new business requirements and architecture designs.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable test code, conduct code reviews, and enforce coding best practices.
Review production code to pro-actively identify possible defects, performance bottlenecks or security issues.
Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD platforms.
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation to allow colleagues to run, edit and maintain test plans.
Stay updated on trends, tools, and technologies in automated testing to propose improvements and innovative solutions.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential skills and experience:
Software testing, in particular of APIs and other backend components.
Software test automation.
Security and compliance.
Risk management and mitigation.
Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
Strong knowledge of QA methodologies.
Experience with constructing tests involving complex set-up of multiple systems.
Experience of developing bespoke tools/scripts/apps to aid testing or test set-up.
Good knowledge of SQL and no-SQL database technologies.
Experience of source control systems (Git preferred)
Experience of AWS services, and in particular ECS, DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS
