Work Schedule: This is a full-time role 9am-5:30pm Brisbane Australia Timezone - (GMT+10)

Salary range: Up to $3000 AUD / Monthly

Role Overview:

As a Senior PHP/Laravel Backend Developer, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining scalable backend systems using Laravel. You’ll work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other team members to deliver high-quality, maintainable code and help drive key technical decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications and APIs using Laravel (PHP 8+)
Modernise our Legacy PHP applications into Laravel
Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
Writing efficient high-quality code and contributing to a culture where quality is paramount
Optimise application performance and scalability
Lead and participate in code reviews, opportunity to mentor junior developers
Contribute to architectural and design discussions
Demonstrate strong systems knowledge and understanding of software operation within infrastructure
Ensure application security and data protection best practices
Debug, test, and troubleshoot issues utilising technologies across multiple platforms and systemsKeep up to date with Laravel and PHP community updates, tools, and best practices

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
At least 5 years of professional experience in PHP Backend Development including experience with older versions of PHP (5.5+)
At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Laravel
Deep knowledge of Laravel, REST APIs, SQL Databases, deployment & versioning (Git), and modern dev workflows
Experience writing unit and integration tests
Can own backend architecture, collaborate with front end and DevOps
Able to work independently with minimal supervision and manage priorities effectively.
Comfortable with the Linux command line.

Desirable skills:

React experience, Mobx/Redux. MaterialUI/SASS experience
Experience with Typescript, and Nodejs
Experience developing applications in a containerised environment using tools such as Docker or Kubernetes
