Job Role: Remote Accountant
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9 AM - 5:30 PM (AU Time Zone)
Salary range:             $1500 - 2000 AUD

Role Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly capable Remote Accountant to join our finance team. This role is integral to the accuracy, timeliness, and insightfulness of financial reporting within our organization. You will work directly with the CFO, providing hands-on accounting support and financial analysis that drives strategic decision-making. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Ledger Reconciliations: Ensure timely reconciliation of the general ledger, maintaining data integrity and transaction accuracy.
  • Bank Reconciliations Oversight: Review and oversee daily bank reconciliation processes performed by junior staff or automated systems.
  • Accruals and Prepayments: Prepare monthly accruals and prepayment schedules, ensuring appropriate matching of revenue and expenses.
  • Cash Flow Forecasting: Deliver accurate cash flow projections (daily, weekly, monthly) to support financial planning.
  • Monthly Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet, and supporting schedules for CFO review.
  • Sales Ledger Review: Audit and verify the sales ledger for accuracy and completeness; identify discrepancies and propose corrections.
  • Profitability Analysis: Conduct a detailed analysis on the profitability of various sales channels, providing insights to drive business growth and efficiency.
  • Product Costing Model: Maintain and develop the product costing model to ensure it reflects accurate cost assumptions and supports pricing strategy and margin analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Experience: 3+ years in a financial reporting role, including balance sheet and profit & loss preparation
  • Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting (mandatory)
  • Microsoft Excel: Advanced level proficiency required (pivot tables, macros, financial modeling)
  • Xero: Advanced level familiarity with accounting workflows, bank feeds, and reporting tools
  • Salesforce: Minimum of 1 year using Salesforce for financial insights, revenue tracking, or reporting integrations
  • Joiin Accounting Software: Experience with Joiin is preferred but not essential
  • Background: Chartered firm or commercial accounting experience are both acceptable
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage remote responsibilities effectively
  • Proactive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset
