Job Description And Duties
The Dam Safety Planning Senior Emergency Services Coordinator (SESC) serves as the technical program expert in the Dam Safety Planning Unit. The SESC provides technical assistance to dam owners, local jurisdictions, and federal and state agencies. The SESC will review technical products of staff, analyze legislation, recommend legislative proposals and strategic planning as related to Dam Safety Planning. The SESC will also serve as the Dams Technical Specialist during any dam safety emergency or extreme weather event.
Under the general direction of the Dam Safety Planning Division Chief, the Senior Emergency Services Coordinator (SESC)position performs the most complex, difficult, and sensitive emergency planning/management work above the journey level. The SESC is independently responsible and may serve as lead for significant, specialized emergency management projects with assignments that are geographic or subject-based. The SESC is expected to formulate program and policy direction and alternatives, and selects and develops methodologies for their implementation.
Serves as a technical program expert, and consults with and provides technical assistance to local dam owners/operators, local jurisdictions, federal and state agencies, organizations, and community groups regarding major program development issues and operations. Reviews technical work products of staff; analyzes legislation having a statewide program impact; and recommends legislative proposals, implementation, and strategic planning as related to Dam Safety Planning.

Working Conditions
DMV Pull Program - Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid Driver’s License (DL). You must answer the questions addressing your DL on your application. Ensure you provide your DL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
Conflict of Interest - This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code and is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.
Telework - This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.

The Planning, Preparedness, and Prevention Directorate develops and maintains statewide plans and planning guidance for local emergency management, state agencies, and tribal governments, including specialized programs for radiological preparedness, dam safety, seismic hazards, and earthquake early warning. This directorate also includes the California Specialized Training Institute which provides exercise support and courses in emergency management, hazardous materials response, criminal justice/officer safety, fire & rescue, and crisis communications.
In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
