Position Title: Mid+ Data Architect
 
Location: LATAM Remote
 
What you will be doing:
 
The Data Architect plays a crucial role managing and optimizing cloud-based platforms, such as Databricks and Sigma Computing. This position ensures high availability, secure access, and cost-effectiveness of these applications while supporting organizational objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with data teams to integrate platforms with business needs, maintain compliance with security standards, and drive cost optimization strategies. This role offers an opportunity to enhance the technological landscape, providing critical oversight and administration of key platforms to ensure smooth operation and alignment with business goals.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize Databricks and Sigma Computing platforms to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Manage user access, roles, and permissions using AWS IAM and Azure AD, ensuring compliance with security policies and organizational requirements.
  • Track and analyze application usage costs utilizing tools such as budget policies and tagging, generating regular cost reports and providing recommendations for cost optimization.
  • Resolve technical issues related to platform functionality and performance, collaborating with vendor support teams as necessary.
  • Implement and monitor security best practices, ensuring platforms adhere to data protection and compliance standards such as OAuth and SSO.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for platform configurations, access policies, and procedures; provide training or guidance to end-users as needed.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to support platform integrations and ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Plan and execute application updates, patches, and maintenance activities to minimize downtime and enhance functionality.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Proficiency in managing major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Experience with identity and access management tools such as AWS IAM and Azure AD, including protocols like SSO and OAuth.
  • Familiarity with platform-specific tools such as Databricks and Sigma Computing.
  • Understanding of security and compliance standards in cloud environments.
  • Prior experience with cloud cost management and optimization tools, alongside generating financial reports.
  • Experience with native Databricks features such as budget policies, compute policies, tagging, SQL alerts, system tables.
  • Basic scripting skills in Python (PySpark experience preferred), Terraform, and SQL for automation and reporting.
  • AWS cloudtrail alerts, dashboards.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent documentation and training abilities for platform-related processes and policies.
  • Preferred certifications: Databricks Administrator, Databricks Platform Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate.
Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with Kubernetes or Docker for container management.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools like Jenkins.
  • Understanding of data engineering concepts and tools like Apache Spark.
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a dynamic environment.
  • McAfee Certified Security Specialist certification.
  • Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices.
