Position Summary:
The Business Immigration Paralegal position will provide organizational and practice specific support to attorneys in our highly specialized Immigration Department. This position assists the team in a wide range of business immigration matters including preparing various immigration forms and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafts, reviews, and edits technical/legal documents and letters based on internal materials.
Drafts writing intensive immigration petitions (O-1A, EB-1A, & EB-2 NIW).
Drafts detailed support letters and letters of recommendation.
Drafts summaries of published works of foreign nationals.
Revises documents according to internal specifications and client feedback.
Replies to client messages in the case management system.
Initiates immigration cases and ensures all documents are provided within assigned deadlines.
Drafts various elements of Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV) (H-1B, L, E-1/2, TN, O-1, J, and Immigrant Visa (IV) (PERM, I-140, CP, AOS, Naturalization, etc.) cases, including cover/support letters, immigration forms, and supporting documents.
Processes I-485 (AOS- Adjustment of Status); submits applications for (I-765) employment authorization document; travel document, replacement I-94 and I-90.
Prepares immigration filings/client correspondence including Premium Processing upgrades and I-131 (AP – Advance Parole/Travel Document).
Changes and files extensions of statuses, including B2; processes fiancé/finance petitions.
Submits and file I-751 (Removal of Conditions).
Reviews drafted work for accuracy. Identifies issues during case production and escalates as needed.
Prepares responses to request for evidence.
Researches law, procedures and keeps track of immigration law updates.
Follows up with attorneys, and/or clients and foreign nationals regarding case filings, as well as completed questionnaires and missing documents.
Conducts necessary data entry, including updating information and uploading documents received from clients and entering client details in case and document management systems, including INSZoom.
Maintains client files, including editing letters and forms.
Contacts USCIS and U.S. consulate/embassies, schedules visa appointment interviews.
Assists in client intakes, prepares client mailings and submissions to various immigration offices.
Liaises with government agencies (DOL, USCIS, NVC) to troubleshoot issues as necessary.
Assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Works overtime as needed and if applicable.

Education & Prior Experience
Writing or liberal arts related Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Professional writing and/or editing experience is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of complex writing experience; no prior legal or immigration experience required, however prior immigration paralegal experience is preferred.
Technology
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to learn new software applications quickly.
